Prevent Changing of Lock Screen Image in Windows 8

Introduction

In this article we are describing how to prevent modification of the Lock Screen Image in Windows 8. By default the user can change the background image when the machine is locked. If you have "Enabled" this setting then the user cannot modify their lock screen image. If you set it to "Disabled" or "Not Configured" then the user can change the Lock Screen image in Windows 8.

Windows 8 provides the option Prevent Changing of Lock Screen Image. In Windows 8, the Lock Screen image contains two elements. First you can specify the Lock Screen image with dynamic icons and second you can specify the login screen where you enter the password to login into Windows. If you want to disable the ability to change the Lock Screen Image then you can open the Local Group policy Editor. You can type the gpedit.msc in the search box and click on it and follow the steps. These are given below.

Steps How to Prevent Changing of Lock Screen Image in Windows 8

Step 1: Move the cursor on the right-bottom and select the search box and enter into the search box what you want.

Step 2: In the search box you enter the gpedit.msc under the application tab and click on the window that is shown.

Step 3: In the window that is shown, you will see the "Local Group Policy Editor" window.

Step 4: In this step I want to prevent changing the Lock Screen Image. Click on the Computer Configuration sub-category Administrative Template sub-category Control Panel sub-category Personalization and click on the "Prevent Changing Lock Screen Image".

Step 5: In this step right-click on the "Prevent Changing Lock Screen Image" and select the edit tab and click on the edit tab.

Step 6: In this step, if you click on the "Enabled" Button then you cannot change the Lock Screen Image. If you click on the "Disabled" or "Not Configured" then you can change the Lock Screen Image when the machine is locked. You click on the "Enabled" Button for disabling the changing the Lock Screen Image and click on the "Apply" or "OK" Button.
