Hide a Drive in Windows 8 So That No One Will Know It’s There

Introduction

In this article we are going to to explain how to hide a drive in Windows 8 so that no one will know it's there. If we add a drive in our PC by default the drive gets a letter. Whether it is a removable drive or even a fixed hard drive inside of our PC. In this article we will learn how to hide any drive in Windows 8 without using any software by the simplest way.

How to hide a drive in Windows 8

Step 1

First we right-click on the computer and select "Manage" on the Windows 8 Desktop.

Step 2

The Computer Management window wll then appear. Then double-click on the "storage" option.

Step 3

Now we select to open the Disk Management snap-in.

Step 4

After opening the Disk Management console, we select a drive to hide in the bottom section of the snap-in. Right-click on it and choose the "Change Drive Letter and Paths" option from the context menu.

Step 5

When the dialog box pops up hit the remove button so that it does not have a drive letter.

Step 6

You will be prompted warning you that programs that use drive letters will no longer function, choose "Yes" to continue.

Step 7

That's all there is to it guys, now when you go to "My Computer" the drive will be gone.
