Why are we sending a notification via SMS when Dropbox is modified?

To stay aware of changes made to your Dropbox account, you can get the SMS notifications to your specified phone number. For that, Microsoft Flow introduces the Flow that sending the notification to your phone number whenever the changed occur in the Dropbox. This flow will update you for all the changes occur in the Dropbox, like uploading the files, deleting the files, modifications in the files etc that sends the SMS with the File name, File Content, File entity tag, File identifier etc.

How to Create a Microsoft Flow for sending a notification via SMS when Dropbox modified.

Here, we can send notification via SMS when Dropbox is modified or new files is uploaded.

Prerequisites

  • Microsoft Account – Corporate ID.
  • Dropbox Account.
  • Nexmo Account.

Follow the below steps to build a Flow using the template.

Step 1

Login to www.flow.microsoft.com

 

Here is the dashboard,

 

Step 2

i. Choose the Templates from the menu bar.

 

ii. Search "Notify me via SMS when dropbox file modified" in the Search bar and choose the templates.

 

Step 3

i. Configure by signing in to Dropbox.

ii. Sign into Dropbox and give it permission to access your accounts.

 

Step 4

i. Next, we sign into Nexmo.

ii. It directs you to the Nexmo website. Here, you can choose "Sign Up" or "Try it Free" for getting the API key for configuring with Dropbox.

iii. Then, give your name, email id, phone number, and password on the signup page.

iv. Now, you receive a pin number for verifying your phone number. Just enter your pin number and click verify

v. After verification, it leads to your nexmo dashboard. There, we have your API Credentials(API Key and Secret Key)

 

Step 5

Next, we configure Nexmo and Dropbox

i. Come back to the Microsoft flow and paste your API key and API Secret Key from Nexmo dashboard and click "Create".

ii. Now, both are configured and choose Continue

iii. Next, choose "When a file is modified" from Dropbox and choose filename as the Sender ID.

iv. Next, enter your phone number. Then, give your planned message in the Text field. (Eg. Filename that modified in Dropbox with file path). Save the flow

 

v. The Flow is created.

 

Output

Upload the file in Dropbox.

 

Now, it's uploaded.

 

We receive the message to our phone number.
