Gridview filter result.

Question

Need your expertise on this problem of mine.

I have a gridview and detailsview connected with each other, filtering of records in gridview is working fine, but the problem is when I try to edit a record in the detailsview which is the result of the the filter method from gridview, the results from filter method disappears and shows all the records from the table instead.

that was great but how can i do this if i am doing the filter outside the gridview? I have a dropdownlist box which has the list of gridview columns to be filtered a textbox for the value and a button to do the filter. The filtration is working but when i clicked on the row which is the result of the filtration the page is reloading and it shows all the records filtered result are being removed.
