How to find out whether a network is a secure or in-secure one?

Hi How to find out whether a network (on which we are sending a request to the webservice) is a secure one or in-secure one. Thanks in advance... Sujasree Kurapati.

First thing is that if we r using IIS then we can set some configuration settings so that how authenticate credentials could be applied to secure a web service. In this case we require clients accesing the service to provide authentication details. When we are securing the Web Service this way we are actually using Transport Based security and we are relying on the Security mechanisms provided by HTTP. If we wanted to increase the security of the WebService by encrypting the Transport Itself we should use HTTPS(SSL - Secured Socket Layer ) by supplying the relevant authenticated certificate.
