Job Description

We are seeking an experienced Database Administrator (DBA) to join our IT team. The successful candidate will be responsible for the installation, configuration, administration, and optimization of our organization's databases. The DBA will ensure the security, integrity, and performance of our database systems, while also providing support and troubleshooting assistance to end-users and other IT staff.

Responsibilities:

  1. Install, configure, and maintain database management systems (DBMS) such as Oracle, MySQL, PostgreSQL, SQL Server, etc.
  2. Create and manage database objects (tables, indexes, views, etc.) as per application requirements.
  3. Perform database upgrades, migrations, and patches to ensure system stability and security.
  4. Monitor database performance and tune database parameters for optimal performance.
  5. Implement and maintain database security policies, procedures, and access controls.
  6. Backup and restore databases to ensure data integrity and availability in case of system failures or disasters.
  7. Develop and maintain database documentation, including data models, schemas, and procedures.
  8. Collaborate with developers, system administrators, and other IT staff to troubleshoot database-related issues and optimize database performance.
  9. Participate in the planning and implementation of database-related projects and initiatives.
  10. Stay current with emerging database technologies and best practices, and make recommendations for continuous improvement.

Requirements:

  1. Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field.
  2. Proven work experience as a Database Administrator or in a similar role.
  3. Strong knowledge of database management systems and concepts, including database design, normalization, and optimization.
  4. Proficiency in SQL programming and scripting languages.
  5. Experience with database administration tools and utilities for monitoring, backup, and recovery.
  6. Familiarity with database security principles and best practices.
  7. Excellent problem-solving and troubleshooting skills.
  8. Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams.
  9. Certifications such as Oracle Certified Professional (OCP), Microsoft Certified: Azure Database Administrator Associate, or equivalent are a plus.
