Disable Runnng Windows 8 Apps as a Different User From the Start Screen

Introduction

In this article we are going to explain how to disable Windows Store apps from being able to be run from the start screen as a different user. In Windows 7 we could simply press the Shift-key and right-click on an application to run it as a different user. But its a little different in Windows 8.

How to disable the "Run as different user" option in Windows 8.

Step 1

First of all we have to move to the Windows 8 Desktop.

Step 2

Then we press the Win + R key, then we see a run box.

In the run box, type gpedit.msc and hit enter.

After this process we will need to drill down into:

User Configuration\Administrative Templates\Start Menu and Task-bar

Step 5

On the right-hand side we will see a setting called Show "Run as different user" command on Start, double-click on it.

Step 6

Then we switch the radio button from "Enabled" to "Disabled", then click on the OK button.

Step 7

Then we go to the Start screen in Windows 8 and we see there is no option for running as a different user.
