How to search content from specific SharePoint list in Content Search Web Part

Introduction:

In this blog you will see how to search content from specific SharePoint list in Content Search Web Part. Please refer my article to know more about content search web part.

Steps to be performed:

  1. Navigate to a SharePoint page.
  2. Click on the Page tab and then click on the Edit button in the ribbon interface.
  3. Click on the Insert tab and then click on the Web Part button in the ribbon interface.
  4. Click on the Content Rollup category, select Content Search and then click on the Add button.
  5. Edit the web part and click on the Change Query button in the Properties section.
  6. Click on Select Documents (System) from the “Select a Query” dropdown list.
  7. In the Restrict by app section, select “Specify a URL” from the drop down list and specify the list URL (https://c986.sharepoint.com/Lists/Employee Details/) in the text box.

  8. Click on Switch to Advanced Mode link.
  9. In the query text remove everything except path:” https://c986.sharepoint.com/Lists/Employee Details/” (Please remove the highlighted text shown in the below image).

  10. Click on the Ok button.
  11. Click on the Save button in the ribbon interface.
  12. All the items from the SharePoint list are displayed as shown below.
