Question

Difference Between Copy method and ConstrainedCopy method with examples

GOPIKRISHNA TIRUVEEDHULA · Answer

when i am trying to use the above code with try-catch blocks both copy and constrainedCopy works similarly

Jaish Mathews · Answer

ConstrainedCopy Guarantees that all changes are undone if the copy does not succeed completely. But 'Copy' won't undo and whatever copied till exception would keep.   Object[] complexArray = { "One", "Two", 3 }; String[] stringArray = new String[3]; Array.Copy(complexArray, stringArray, 3);   //Above line throws an invalid cast exception. But first two elements of the complexArray are copied to the stringArray. No undo here.   Array.ConstrainedCopy(complexArray, 0, stringArray, 0, 3); //This throws an System.ArrayTypeMismatchException and won't copy any elements to the destination array (stringArray).   See attached image for exceptions and it's inner values.
