C#.net 2010 textbox issue

Question

On C#.net 2010 new in asp.net and desktop applications, I am suppose to have a 'type ahead' feature. Basically a user 'starts' to type a 'company name' in a text box, and then the application comes up with options on what the user is trying to enter. This way the user does not have to enter the entire company.

I do not know what this option occurs in C#.net 2010. Can you explain this to me and/or point me to a url that would explain this option to me?

Windows Textbox has following three properties AutoCompleteSource AutoCompleteMode AutoCompleteCustomSource You have fill in the AutoCompleteCustomSource with the Company Names then set the following properties AutoCompleteSource = CutomSource AutoCompleteMode = SuggestAppend Once you run the application and the user tries to type in the name automatically the suggestions would appear as list below and user can select the name will be be added to the textbox he is typing.

I think you want some type of ComboBox. A ComboBox is a combination of a textbox and a listbox. They are called other things too depending on what options are needed. Sometimes they are called a DropDownList. The original Windows API controls did not have anything like that. Windows programmers however did that type of thing so much that now many .Net controls have AutoComplete properties that make it very easy to do that. So you can fill a DropDownList with all the cities and also set a property for the DropDownList so that it does the automatic completion.
