Client application and Desktop application

Hi Guys Client application and Desktop application I wish to know whether Client application and desktop application are referring to same thing or different thing. I know about Client application but I don’t know about desktop application. Please help. Thank you

A client application usually means a desktop application.

A 'desktop' application is an application which runs on a client's own machine (e.g. a windows forms or console application) in contrast to a web application (e.g. asp.net ) which runs on a server and is then accessed over the web by clients using a browser.
