Difference between c# and c#.net!?

Question

Hi I have been asked by my boss to larn the basics of c#.net. I am not from a programming background and was wondering if there is a difference between c# and c#.net or are they the same thing? I have downloaded Microsoft Visual C# 2005 Express Edition and am learning from videos I've downloaded from the web - can anyone recommend good video tutorials for a beginner? Thanks Al

To all intents and purposes there's no difference. C# is a programming language which has been standardized for international use. Visual C#.Net 2003 and Visual C# 2005 are Microsoft's implementation of C# for Windows as part of their Visual Studio range of products but as Microsoft invented the language there's virtually no difference between these and the standardized language :) The videos on Microsoft's Beginner Developer Learning Center are as good as any for learning C# or VB.Net hand in hand with the VS 2005 Express Edition: http://msdn.microsoft.com/vstudio/express/beginner/windows/tier1/
