difference between Console.WriteLine(s.ToString()) & .......

Question

Here s is a string value  s ,which is containng null.So Can anyone tell what is difference between Statement 1 & Statement 2     string s; s=" "; Console.WriteLine(s.ToString()); Console.WriteLine(Convert.ToString(s));

Hi,   Example :   The following code you will get exception in line number 9 but line number 8 is empty. Convert.ToString() handles null and return string.empty when the value is null, while ToString throws an exception  .   You can see the difference when you assign string s=null ;

Hi Sandeep,   For your example where s = " " ; there will not be any difference. But just change the s value to s = null; and you will find the diffrence. When s = null then s.ToString() will throw exception but Convert.toString(s) will handle null.    Regards, Mukesh Nayak
