Excel Interop problems

Question

I'm having to pull in data from a spreadsheet, but the header row is causing a lot of problems. My first column is a 6 digit ID but it's a string also, the interop wants those fields to be a Double. How can I make sure everything is just a string as it's passed over?

I'm using range.Cells[i,j].Value2

The problem there is that if values.GetValue(i1) is null then you won't be able to call its Equals method. I'd just use: if (values.GetValue(i1) == null)

If the application is not built for 32-bit only and is executing in a 64-bit Windows then that will prevent use of OLEDB.

I've found two different solutions on using get_value converts the datatypes for me but the ranges never worked right for some reason when I had a header row it only read in 4 rows. The second method was a lot easier but used Cells[].Value2 and it doesn't seem to auto-convert the datatypes. I've merged the two different solutions and I'm getting closer. Wish our OLEDB was working lol. The first column is just being a pain some fields are null and the ID can be letters or numbers. My last bump in the road seems to be that values.GetValue(i 1).Equals(null) doesn't catch the null. I keep getting a NullReferenceException.
