Form responding to zip code input

Question

I need to create a form that routes someone to the next page according to the zip code they input. Is there an easy way to set something like this up?

The attached zipf file has a HTML file with a little JavaScript. I hope it gets the idea across. It uses a Dictionary to look up a zip code.

I would like to create a Javascript sample to show (maybe I can add 50 zip codes as a to start with) to see if they like it. Does anyone know what the script would look like? Thanks for your help.

So you could have an array of zip codes with corresponding page number. If you use 4 bytes for for the zip code plus another byte for the page number that would be about 2KB of data correct? So that would not be too much to send to the client for use by the JavaScript if you want to do that. If you make it all text then it would be just a little bit bigger so it would be reasonable to use text for the data (zip codes and page numbers). I am not sure of the details of ASP but it seems to me that you should be able to send the zip code back to the server and let it do the look-up of zip code and navigation to the appropriate form. Probably the only problem with Amit's suggestion is that you need a table of some type to do a look-up of zip code.

Okay I probably made that way too simple. Here's the details (not too bad I don't think!) I have 400 zip codes. When someone enters a zip code into the box and clicks send - they will be taken to one of four pages (depending upon their zip code). 400 zip codes - all going to either - page1.htm page2.htm page3.html or page4.htm

I think it depends very very much on how complex is according to the zip code and what you mean by next page. More specifically what is different about the various pages that is to be shown? Probably it is not necessary to use many pages all with very different formats; I don't know what your requirements are so I can't answer your question really well but my guess is that any differences based on zip code can be done in one page design. When you say according to the zip code I assume that the zip codes are put into regions or some other geographic category. Is there a database table that determines what the region is for each zip code? How can you determine what page to use based on zip code? Your management has to decide how to do that.

hi friend Create a form put a textbox on it. Drop a button also name Take me there OnClick event of this button.. you can check the value of ZipCode and compare it with your criteria of redirection. like: if(txtZipCode.Text==248001) Response.Redirect(~\Dehradun.aspx); and you are done.
