Distance education is good when you are working and you don't have time to go to college. It is better to go for regular course if you have time. Distance education will add value when you have work. Many companies do not consider distance education degree specially when you are fresher. Regular degree is always good.

Distance learning is best option if you are employed somewhere and cannot take time for regular classes. You are right it is not like to study yourself like a self-learner as an instructor or the institute itself is provided to the students. I am also going to apply for a distance learning course as I do not get enough time to learn the rest of the stuff that I want to. Just make sure the degree you are applying for and the institute you are going to attend is a well known and certified .
