how to find disticnt record to bind dropdownlist??

i have a page where i m inserting multiple records with same name like (ShortName) and a ShortNameID which is auto generated according to date now i want to show it another page with distinct name with thier ShortNameID

Hi You can refer the following code to solve the issue of to find disticnt record to bind dropdownlist. SelectCommand=Select DISTINCT Featured from tbl_YourTableName

Dear member i have find solution ie. SELECT MAX(ShortNameID) AS ShortNameID  ShortName FROM DailyCurrencyRate WHERE Active=1 GROUP BY ShortName THANKS

If I did understand correctly distinct keyword gives you unrepeated values select distinct ShortName ShortNameID from tablename
