how to write code to send sms?

I am new to visual basic. For this I am doing a major project on sending sms using vb.net. I have search on the net but there is no help for me. As visual basic is new to me therefore i do not know how to start in writing the code for this application. I am doing this application in windows forms.Hope that anyone could help me.. thanks

I have previously achieved this by using a Nokia Premicell GMS terminal. This unit is easily controlled via a serial port and can be used to send/recieve SMS messages via the PC and nicely old versions of these units can be picked up cheap on eBay.
