Insert Text file into SQL Database???

I've searched through various books and Internet references trying to find a simple C# code to insert the contects of a .txt file into an SQL database. Help.................. please reply to my email address: [email protected]

Hello everyone :) I'm a new guy here and somewhat new to the .NET programming framework. I'm working in C# (not my languages of choice but my company is asking me to use it to work with everyone else we just hired :( ) So I guess this is my first question........could someone point me to an example of how to use the System.IO.File and System.IO.FileStream objects? I'm trying to do one of 2 things: Grab a file's information and store it in a database (via the File object's static methods) or grab the file itself and store it in the database (as BLOB). Both of these things I don't really know how to do but I understand what is necessary to do it from having done it in other languages........can anyone help?

Did you want to insert the contents of the file into a database or did you want to insert the file into the database? You can always store the file as a blob type in the database (Binary Large OBject). That way you can just pull out the file whenever you need it If on the other hand you only want the data on the file stored in a database that you'll have to know for yourself. You'll probably want to read the file and then do some business logic on it and then parse out the file into the appropriate fields as you see fit.

You'll have to read out the contents of that text file yourself I guess. You're the only one who knows where the fields are in that file and so.
