Mailbox Full Need to Backup Before Cleanup. Any Suggestions

My Apple Mail Mailbox is almost full. The new incoming emails take too long to load and the whole setup runs slow. This had happened to me before a cleanup did everything straight. But this time I need to backup all my email database contacts address book everything. I am looking for the easiest solution to do that. Looking for some helpful answers. Thanks
