MySql Data Base Backup

Question

Hi to all Can any body tell me is it possible to take backup of mysql database through programing? If yes please tell me how..... Actually I am making a web application with C# Asp.net and the database I am using is Mysql. With the help of mysql inbuild interface we can take backup. But I want to get it through coding. Please suggest me the way. Thanks & Regards Rajeev Ranjan.

Hi it is possible to take a backup of MYSQL database programatically and there are different ways how to do it. One of them will be to use mysqldump utility on your server with syntax similar to mysqldump -u your_username -p your_password database_name > path\filename_where_to_store_backup (of course you have to write code to access mysqldump on the server. The best will be to create batch and call batch with parameters). But there are also another possibility (slower).
