Question

I have sharepoint 2013 farm with one app and one WFE. In WFE sharepoint timer service is running fine but app server every couple of minutes it gets stopped automatically... my first question is if the timer service run on wfe n doesn't run in app server... will it create any problems???? My second question is why the timer service gets stopped automatically in app server, how to fix this???

Timer service is backbone of SharePoint, as this run many key tasks on backend. If the timer services is stoped or malfuncationing then your sharepoint will be in trouble. If timer service is stoped that's mean no timer jobs run on that servers, service end point will stop responding etc.   Now you have to check the Event log ( Application, System and setup) to get the clue why it stoped after x min.    https://blogs.msdn.microsoft.com/besidethepoint/2011/10/26/the-sharepoint-timer-service/

1. Timer service is installed on all servers in the farm. 2. Please check event log and SharePoint ULS log for any error related to timer service.
