Problem with cursor while using backgroundworker

Question

Hi ,

I'm using a background worker in order to do some async work. The problem is that as soon as the worker starts it work, the cursor becomes a "wait" cursor. I want the cursor to remain "arrow" cursor.

It works only if i chnge the style of the cursor in the complete handler, but i want the cursor to stay "arrow" through all the time the worker works...

Any thoughts?

Have you tried to use TPL instead of background workers. It is a more elegant method and thread safe to use.

I'd try handling the ProgressChanged event (or add code to the existing handler) as follows:
private void backgroundWorker1_ProgressChanged(object sender, ProgressChangedEventArgs e)   {       if (e.ProgressPercentage == 0)       {          this.Cursor = Cursors.Arrow;          return;       }       // other code, if any }
You will, of course, need to set the WorkerReportsProgress property to true for this to work.
I'd then insert the following line in your DoWork() method at the point just after the cursor changes to a 'wait' cursor:
backgroundWorker1.ReportProgress(0);
