Properties vs Public variables inside the class

Question

Please demonstrate me what is the actual differences b/w properties and variables and why should we use properties in side a class instead of variables ?

I think variables can fulfill our all the requirements then what is the need to use properties ? I'm searching about this topic from a couple of days but not get the satisfaction from the solutions.

Hi You can prefer to use Properties because 1) Variables cant be used with Interface 2) You cant validate variable value at the time of assignment But in property you can using Setter. 3) .NET data binding infrastructure [WPF/Silverlight] binds to properties but not fields 4) More reliable accessibility. i.e you can read the property from outside but you cant set the value [public property with private setter].
