put monthcalendar date to variable

HELP...I want to put selected date from montcalendar intu a variable and then convert to string. I try several version but without success. If anybody can help.... Thanks

This should work depending on whether there's a single date or a range of dates selected in the control: if (monthCalendar1.SelectionStart == monthCalendar1.SelectionEnd) label1.Text = monthCalendar1.SelectionStart.ToShortDateString(); else label1.Text = monthCalendar1.SelectionStart.ToShortDateString() +  to  + monthCalendar1.SelectionEnd.ToShortDateString();
