Reading in log file

Question

Hi there I'm not too experienced with VB .net. I'm trying to read in a log file for parsing. The problem is the log file has special characters and I'm having trouble reading it into my app. When I dump the data into a String I notice that the String only contains some character that looks like a square. The length of the String however seems to be the correct length. Anyone have any information on this? Thanks in advance!

Anyone? I'm really stumped ; ) Here's a snippet from one of the lines in the file: w m  ª € œ ‚è‡ÐîÅI n f o I N T S P T . . . . . . I just need to be able to parse over the junk characters but none of the readers seems to be able to read these in correctly. I tried reading in the whole file and writing it all to a new text file and I ended up losing a great deal of the data. Any help would be appreciated!

Hmm I guess this class doesn't help me very much unless I'm using it incorrectly. The log file I am parsing is very messy and contains these characters  . My problem is I can't seem to parse over these.

This sounds a lot like what I need but I couldn't get this class to work in VB .Net. Any other help would be appreciated! ::Edit:: Fixed I was using the wrong framework version of .Net =D
