Sending encrypted to the client and vice versa?

Hi. I'm just wondering how I could accomplish an encrypted connection between the server and client when sending data via for instance ado.net or whatever. How would you say I encrypt it and how would I then send the encrypted string and decrypt it at the server or client? I mean anyone can decrypt base64 rot13 etc so should one come up with an own encryption algoritm or what? Thanks alot. - Tobias student.

If you make you own it would not be public knoledge as you would hold the main part. know one could gain all information unless you gave it to them. Your own code could be safe as houses if you use a large enough encryption code. the bigger the code the harder to break. most of the encryption codes on the market are readerly avilable to all. So no coding sold to mass markets is safe due to hacker and such getting the programs and ripping them to bits to find back doors and such if your own became compromised you could change it almost instantly. look at basic encryption for the inigma and then up to date you'll find your answer.
