Set Focus In Datagridview:C#

Question

Hi My datagridview contains 3 columns I have displayed values in these cells on the cell enter event if the user do not enter any value in any of three cells the new row is not added. The new row only get added if the value in written in any of the cell. So what can i do to add a new row on the cell leave event of the last cell. Thanks Vidya

If you want to use tab key add the rows in cell enter event of cell rather then cell leave event private void dataGridView1_CellEnter(object sender DataGridViewCellEventArgs e) { if (e.ColumnIndex == 2) { Thread t = new Thread(pAddRowInDatagrid); t.Start(); } } and set the property dataGridView1.StandardTab = false;

You are using the tab key at the last column instead press the down arrow key.

Thanks It worked as i wanted it to...... Now only the problem is when the new row is added as it is the last row the focus leaves the datagridview and goes on other control the inserted the following line but didn't work now what can i do.... if (e.ColumnIndex == 9 && flagDoIt == true ) { Thread t = new Thread (pAddRowInDatagrid); t.Start(); flagDoIt = false ; } private void pAddRowInDatagrid() { grdtreatment.Rows.Add(1); grdtreatment.Focus(); } I want that focus must be on the first cell of newly added row... Set the property AllowUserToAddRows =false Just tell me when you want to add rows because as soon as the last cell will loose focus a new row will be added everytime.

Sorry row is added But it added more than one sometimes 3 6 or many more. And the data displayed in the first row moves down to the last row and empty rows get added above it...... Regards Vidya

I got your problem and found answer At the form load event first of all set the property of the form and add the new row to data grid (suppose datagrid name is dataGridView1) CheckForIllegalCrossThreadCalls = false; dataGridView1.Rows.Add(1); Now register cell leave event of the datagridview and add the following code private void dataGridView1_CellLeave(object sender DataGridViewCellEventArgs e) { if (e.ColumnIndex == 2)//Column index should be the last index of column you have in data grid { Thread t = new Threa(pAddRowInDatagrid); t.Start(); } } private void pAddRowInDatagrid() { dataGridView1.Rows.Add(1); } Can you do me favour can you tell me how to format the replies properly as my replies don't get formatted. Hi At the form load there will be one row then when i will leave the last cell of the first row then there should be one row added. Regards Vidya

Hi I am not able to understand what you actually want. You want to add row when the cell leave event occurs. But which cell you want is it the last cell in the previous row or something else. Can you provide more information.
