To migrate sqlserver 2005 To 2016

What are the process and steps to follow to migrate database from 2005 To 2016 without affecting the application reading and writing in the old database server?

Hi Gaurav Hope  you have separate instance running for SQL Server 2016. Follow the below steps to start your migrations. 1) Take a Full backup of all databases that will be migrated. 2) Restore SQL Server 2005 database to SQL Server 2016 instance. It should restore if it fails Try to first migrate it to SQL Server 2008/R2. Please note that all service packs should be similar in source and destination servers 3) Move Logins and SQL Agent jobs.
