Hi Arjun We can change a lower case data ( string ) in our mysql table to upper case by using ucase function. Same way we can change upper case characters to lower case by using lcase function. Here is the syntax :- select ucase('this is a string') select lcase('This is a String') Note:- But When creating a stored function to manipulate string values it is not possible to getLower() LCase() Upper() or UCase() functions to work. UCASE() does exactly the same as the UPPER() function which is to convert all letters in the string to upper case: SELECT UCASE('Arjun'); -> 'ARJUN' Similarly LCASE() does the same as the LOWER() function which is to convert all the letters in the string to lower case: SELECT LCASE('Arjun'); -> 'arjun'

Well to transform something means to convert it into something else. I don't know of any special operation in MySql or any other RDBMS which is referred to as 'transforming' strings'. So if you've come across the term it probably just means using one of MySql's string functions to convert a string into some other kind of value or to separate it into individual fields which can then be inserted into a table. However I'd wait for further answers in case anyone else knows differently.
