WCF - Class/Channel/Client

Question

Hi all....

Do anyone have a working project on WCF Services ??

I made a sample WCF Portal.

So, I want to know the difference between -

Service1 - Class
Service1Channel
Service1Client
ServiceReference

Hi... Thanks a lot...... I still have few queries... 1. I made a sample method - public int add(int i int j) {return (i+j);} When I call this method in aspx.cs file I get two methods - add(int iint j) and addasync(int iint j) what is the difference between these two methods and which one to use. 2. I have deleted the Interface (IService.cs) file from my portal and made all methods in class file (Service.cs). Is this acceptable ? 3. End Point - In wcf service portal my webconfig file is - bindingConfiguration=BasicHttpBinding_Service1 contract=ServiceReference1.Service1 name=BasicHttpBinding_Service1 /> ------- My Query is- Localhost now runs perfectly.. But once I publish the website and host in server (other machine - 1.1.1.1) then endpoint issue arises. I want a solution such that - 1. endpoint address must be a specific URL 2. No need to change it on repeated basis. Once fixed in webconfig file it must work everywhere. I tried the following - bindingConfiguration=BasicHttpBinding_Service1 contract=ServiceReference1.Service1 name=BasicHttpBinding_Service1 /> bindingConfiguration=BasicHttpBinding_Service1 contract=ServiceReference1.Service1 name=BasicHttpBinding_Service1 /> ------- but none worked... Please guide

Hi If server name is same but service name is different then we can use as common part as a base address but here one is localhost and one is specific server There is a way when we are handling with multiple endpoint for localhost or specific server. Hi.. For 3rd point - While I run the application on my localhost the endpoint address is - http://localhost:21345/MyWCFService.svc ------- When I deploy this in other server  I need to change the endpoint address. New server on which my application is deployed is - 12.11.14.15 ----- Can we have a common endpoint so we do need to change is on repeated basis ??

Hi 1-Normally we are using add(int i int j) {return (i+j);} method For Async method please refer this link this will provide whole idea when we are using this http://www.codeproject.com/Articles/613678/Task-based-Asynchronous-Operation-in-WCF 2- Yes In place of Interface file you can use CS file also. 3- Need to host WCF service also in server.and give that path as end point address. like example where XX.XXX.XXX.X is server IP address where service is hosted. binding=basicHttpBinding bindingConfiguration=BasicHttpBinding_Service1 contract=ServiceReference1.Service1 name=BasicHttpBinding_Service1 /> Let me know if you face issues.
