what is collation error?

I think Mixing collations within the same instance of SQL Server is a source of virtually endless problems unless the entire system was carefully written to exist with multiple collations - and doing that is also a big hassle.

example

CREATE TABLE #TEMP (name varchar(80) Collate SQL_Latin1_General_CP1_CI_AS)

INSERT INTO #TEMP values ('Malteser Schloßschule')

if you have some column datatype NVARCHAR? SQL_Latin1_General_CP1_CI_AS doesn't support Unicode

and thus falls back to Latin1_General_CI_AS.Because NVARCHAR is for Unicode
