What the difference between VB 2008 express and VB.net

Question

Hello Just a quick question really Whats the difference between VB 2008 express edition and VB.NET Am i right in saying VB 2008 express edition is for windows application and VB.net is a web based application? Thanks for any information you can give me.

Vb.net express is a free cut down version if vb.net 2008/2010 With the express version you can create windows forms class library wpf (like windows forms) wpf browser application and console application. For persons learning vb/C# etc - it is best to download the free express versions

No... VB.Net is Visual Basic version that is compliant with the .NET CLI . You can use VB.NET to write web applications Windows desktop applications Windows services and now Windows Phone 7 applications. VB express is a IDE  it is the VB.NET language specific free version of Visual Studio. To complicate matters there are express versions for general development for each language and express versions for different development tasks like web and phone!
