Why is my drag and drop behavior odd

Question

The page i am working on is  located at http://www.psware.us/brackets/

To see the bug, please
- choose a bracket of any size
- dont bother putting participant names, it will autofill empty fields.
- try dragging a competitor from one bracket to an empty one. I have the targets marked with boxes.

The drag and drop is way off.  The idea is for it to copy the dragged competitor and put the copy into the rectangle nearest the drop.  Oddly, competitor one always seems to drop in the right spot (though it needs to be offset in the y direction for the text size).
