Win 8, select the first item in a listbox of a calendar?

Question

 How do I select the first item in my listbox, so that everyday the first item in the list (they change each day) is highlighted?
(They are a list of appointments that changes according to which day you select. Currently nothing is selected when I log in, I manually have to select one)
