Microsoft has brought a great opportunity for game developers to win prizes worth more than $200,000. The Dream.Build.Play Challenge has been announced by the company. It's a skill-based contest where you have to build a UWP game app, and it's open to all developers.
“Push the boundaries of creativity and challenge yourself to craft experiences that deeply engage your players. This competition is open to all developers, working solo or in teams of up to seven. Create a Universal Windows Platform (UWP) game for one of the 4 categories by December 31, 2017, and you’ll get the chance to win cash prizes and show off your game to the world.”
There will be four categories in which a creative candidate or team can participate. Each category has different kind of challenge and different prize amount.

If you can build cloud-powered games, you are up for a prize of $100,000 and if you are a Windows 10 PC game developer with high creativity, you may win $50,000.

Similarly, if you belong to the mixed-reality gamers tribe, the prize amount will be $50,000 while for the Xbox One Console game developers, the prize is set at $25,000.
The
registration for entering the competition began on June 27, however, the team formation and entry submission for games will start on August 2, 2017. You will have 5 months to build and submit a UWP game application since the submission ends on December 31, 2017.

Microsoft will start judging the entries beginning January 2 next year and the winners will be announced on March 20, 2018, at
Dream.Build.Play website.
