Google Announces New, Improved Daydream View VR Headset

Alongside Pixel 2 phones, Pixelbook notebooks, and a whole family of other devices, Google has announced a new enhanced model of Daydream View VR headset during the Pixel 2 event today.

Called the 2nd generation of Daydream View, this new variant looks similar to the first Daydream View launched in November last year specifically for Google Pixel phones. However, the company claims to have improved the lenses and make same design tweaks, with the support to over a dozen Daydream ready devices, such as – Samsung Galaxy Note 8 or LG V30.

Google claims this updated Daydream View to be the best mobile virtual reality (VR) headset in the market, with the simplest and most comfortable VR experience. In a blog, company states,

“There’s so much to experience on Daydream. Last year, we launched with 25 apps and games. Daydream now has more than 250 titles, so you’ll never run out of things to do. Over the last year, we’ve also seen how much people love watching immersive VR video on apps like YouTube VR. And no wonder: great VR video puts you in the center of the action. It’s a totally different experience from watching on a flat screen. We’re bringing you more of these amazing, only-in-VR moments with a slate of new and exclusive premium content for Daydream.”

The new View is available in three colors - charcoal, fog, and coral (black, grey, and red) at a price of $99 and the company will start shipping the product October 19. The new View will launch in 11 countries: the US, Canada, the UK, Germany, Australia, India, Italy, France, Spain, Japan, and Korea.
