Apple recently started rolling out the iOS 18 and iPadOS 18 update for supported iPhones and iPads. The Cupertino-based tech giant’s latest software update for iPads is one of the biggest updates in the last few years as it adds several new features.
However, not everything seems to be going smoothly. The iPadOS 18 update for the M4 iPad Pro (review), which the company launched a few months ago, is reportedly bricking tablets. As reported by several users on Reddit and Apple’s very own Discussion Forums, users say that their M4 iPad Pro has refused to turn on after installing the iPadOS 18 update and that it’s not possible to restore the iPad software using a computer.
Some users have said that their M4 iPad Pro has stopped working completely after the update, but others say their tablet is working fine even after updating to iPadOS 18. While the root cause is yet to be identified, speculations suggests that those went from iPadOS 17.6.1 to iPad OS 18 did not face any problems but those updating from iPadOS 17.7 to iPadOS 18 did say their device is bricked, hinting that the prior iPadOS may have something to do with the bricking issue.
