Mozilla, one of the world’s most popular IT firms, has launched a whole new and completely modernized version of its legacy web browser, Mozilla Firefox – Firefox Quantum. The company claims that Quantum is amazingly fast and user-friendly as compared to all its predecessors.
Mozilla’s Mark Mayo writes in a blog post,
“Firefox Quantum is over twice as fast as Firefox from 6 months ago, built on a completely overhauled core engine with brand new technology stolen from our advanced research group, and graced with a beautiful new look designed to get out of the way and let you do what you do best: surf a ton of pages, open a zillion tabs, all guilt free because Firefox Quantum uses less memory than the competition. Your computer will thank you. “
The company calls it the biggest update they have made since the launch of Firefox 1.0 thirteen years ago, in 2004. Here are some of the key features that the company boasts of, which make Firefox Quantum a masterpiece.
- Firefox Quantum is really fast because it consumes very less of the CPU memory.
- The User Interface of the application is completely changed into a new, better, and smooth look and feel. The company has named it Photon UI that gives the application a modern touch and user-friendliness.
- Since the browsing engine is cross-platform, the company informs that it will work really smooth regardless of the device one is using Firefox Quantum on.
- The new application is made capable of scaling its functionality based on the hardware a user is using.
- Firefox Quantum is smart enough to prioritize your work. Now, the current tab (the one you are working on) is set to higher priority over the other tabs, in terms of using the system resources.
- The company has collaborated with Google to make the Google Search the default search engine for Firefox Quantum in the US and in Canada.
- On the other hand, more than 60 search providers across 90 languages have been pre-installed in this new version of browser to give users freedom of selecting their favourite one.
- A new CSS engine, Stylo has is integrated in Quantum, that helps optimize the low power consumption by the modern multi-core hardware.
- A new feature called Pocket Recommendation is also integrated with the Firefox Quantum. This feature recommends you stories that may interest you when you open a new tab.
