Qualcomm has announced the details of its latest Snapdragon 835 mobile processor, at CSE 2017, and it is being expected to be integrated in devices launching in the first half of 2017. The Snapdragon 835 is the successor to Snapdragon 820 which was launched in 2016. The latest Snapdragon 835 comes with new features, improved performance, efficient components, and new capabilities for Virtual Reality as well as for taking photos. Qualcomm claims that the new processor Snapdragon 835 consumes around 25 percent less power as compared to the older one, i.e., Snapdragon 820, and the company claims that it comes with 2.5 more hours of run time on an average day of usage.

As per the earlier announcement, Snapdragon 835 comes with the latest and the newest version of the company’s fast charging technology, dubbed Quick Charge 4.0. This new version is completely compatible with USB Type - C industry standards, and it will be able to charge around 20% quicker compared to the Quick Charge 3.0. It also comes with the latest protection against overcharging.

Qualcomm also informs that the latest Snapdragon 835 comes with 50% percent reduction, compared to Snapdragon 801, the 2014 flagship processor. It is based on 10nm fabrication technology, which is perfect for a smaller and thinner phones with larger batteries compare to the company’s previous processors.
Additionally, in order to improve power management, the Snapdragon 835 goes on to expand the 820 Virtual and Augmented Reality capabilities, with faster 3D graphics rendering and 60 times more colors. It also comes with improved sound processing so as to produce “true to life sound” in virtual environments. Along with this, the company states that the Snapdragon 835 will also be dedicated to the virtual reality headsets as well.

The latest platform goes on to include improved image capture, which includes native support for optical zoom systems along with better autofocus technologies. It also comes with enhanced electronic image stabilization while capturing video. This latest Snapdragon 835 will be the first Snapdragon processor to support Ultra HD 4K Premium video playback, which includes HDR 10.
Other than Apple devices, Qualcomm’s Snapdragon has been dominating the premium smartphone world also, and it can be found in almost all Android devices available in the Market. It seems that the latest Snapdragon 835 will continue this particular trend; however, the company is making an effort to bring the Snapdragon 835 processor to other devices too, hence this would mean a greater expansion for the company.
