Disable Registry Editor in Windows 8

Introduction

Today we will discuss on one of the essential features of the Windows operating system is the registry editor. As we mentioned earlier in our articles, security is one of the important issues of computer systems and Windows 8 launched as the latest version of the Windows operating system series which has come into the market with many new features that make it easy to use for users.

The Registry Editor can be harmful for your operating system performance if it is used by a user who is a beginner and has no knowledge of the configuration settings of the registry. Actually it is totally restricted to access by all users and administrators that do not make any type of changes in the registry system because it has a direct effect on system performance. So if you want to eliminate problems such as these then disable your system registry editor. Here we will give you a number of steps for disabling the registry editor in your system.

Step 1: Open the Windows 8 operating system; then go to the right lower corner of the screen and click the search button.

Step 2: A new window will open for all the applications; select the application tab and type gpedit.msc in the search box; you will see an application icon on the left side of the window.

Step 3: Click the application icon; a new window Local Group Policy Editor will open.

Step 4: To open the Windows component do the following as below:

User Configuration --> Administrative Templates --> System

Step 5: Double-click on the system category; a list of settings will appear on the right side of the window, select the Prevent access to registry editing tools then right-click on it and select edit.

Step 6: A new window will open; select the disable radio button and click apply and the OK button.

Step 7: Now you will check, whenever you want to open the registry editor; you will get the following message.
