Enable Spartan's Edge Rendering Engine in Windows 10

With the introduction of Windows 10, we already knew that Internet Explorer is the default browser. There is another lightweight browser in the queue Microsoft has revealed, the brand new browser "Spartan" code named "Project Spartan" obviously has new features and the experience will be deployed with future builds.

As we know Cortana is included with Windows. Project "Spartan" will also be integrated with the Cortana Personal Digital Assistant that makes it easy to find or do things online.

Microsoft has shown the new browser "Spartan" running on the PC during the Windows 10 event, that looks as in:

Spartan is quite faster than that of IE because of the new rendering engine "Edge". Earlier "Trident" was being used in different IE versions as the rendering engine.

Windows 10 Technical Preview (Build 9926), the current version of Windows doesn't have this Spartan browser, but we can enable the Spartan Rendering Engine in Internet Explorer 11.

If you want to accelerate Internet Explorer in the Windows 10 Technical Preview try this.

Step 1

Be sure that you are running at least Windows 10 Technical Preview (Build 9926).

Step 2

Launch IE 11 and type about:flags in address bar then press the Enter key.

Step 3

Since it is Experimental, enable these settings at your own risk. You might experience some issues regarding performance, you can reset your default settings later in case of any issue. For now several Experimental Features will be displayed on the screen.

Step 4

Move to Enable Experimental Web Platform Features and select the radio button labeled Enabled. Click the Apply Changes button.

Step 5

Restart your IE 11 for the changes to take effect as instructed in Red labeled text.

Cheers! You have enabled Spartan's Edge Rendering Engine.

You can disable or set automatic if you wish to do so. After enabling Edge in IE you may notice a performance improvement a bit but you might not see any visual changes that you were expecting because "Spartan" is still a "Project Spartan", I mean the Edge engine is still being improved.
