Windows Technical Preview

Finally Windows 10 Technical Preview has arrived with awesome features and experiences. Microsoft released the Technical Preview on 12 Feb, after releasing the initial Windows 10 Technical Preview on Oct 1 2014. There are many new goodies introduced with this preview including a feature-packed update with Cortana, Xbox app and Spartan browser features.

Windows Technical Preview was released via the Windows Insider Program, a forum for asking user feedback on new released and also discussed trouble spots with Microsoft Engineers.

Why to Go With the Preview

You would be looking for Preview if you understand what an ISO file is and how to use it. That's obvious!
If you are a technology enthusiast, or better to say Windows enthusiast, you must look for the Technical Preview download to try out the new softwares that are under SDLC. You can add feedback for the software. If you want to experience dynamic updates and UI design, you should go with it.

How to Download

To have Windows 10 Technical Preview in your PC then use the following short procedure to download it.

  • Since Windows 10 Technical Preview was released via the Windows Insider Program, you must sign up for it.

  • Checkout the system requirements before proceeding.

  • Then you can download an ISO file that can be used to install the preview.

  • Transfer that ISO file to the installation media such as a DVD or USB flash drive.

  • Follow the procedure to do the installation process.

System Requirements

Well, you don't need to worry about checking the system requirements, Windows will check your system and it will determine whether or not it can install the preview.

If you are on Windows 8.1, you may use Windows 10 Preview.

  • Microsoft Account and Internet Access

  • Processor: Atleast 1 GHz

  • RAM: 1 GB (for 32-bit) or 2 GB (for 64-bit)

  • Free Hard Disk space: 16 GB

  • Graphics Card: Microsoft DirectX9 graphics device with WDDM driver

Windows 10 Preview Installation Procedure

When you are upgrading from your current version of windows you can keep settings from older versions.


Consider these points before you install Windows Preview in your PC.

  • Make your data backup, it will be useful if anything goes wrong.

  • Be sure you have the serial number, installation data and so on since the update process is not reversible.

Download and Upgrade

Go to Windows Insider Program and sign in with Microsoft Account.


If you do not have a Microsoft Account then you need to sign up for the Microsoft Insider Program, or simply sign in with your Microsoft Account and accept the term and conditions. Only after that will you be able to download it.


In the next step, Microsoft says to download the upgrade version of the software, This upgrade version is actually intended to upgrade your PC you're currently using. I recommend not to download the upgrade, move over to Looking for ISO files?, and click on the Get the ISO files , you will find the languages options and OS bit versions (32-bit or 64-bit).

After downloading it's time to move closer to a Windows 10 Technical Preview test drive. Well the next syep is the installation process. Burn a disc or copy the files to a USB drive and insert it into the PC.

If you have any older version of Windows already in your PC, you can simply start the installation process by just clicking setup.exe from the desktop, thereby follow the instructions.


If your machine doesn't have a copy of Windows, you need to boot your PC from the USB drive or disk.


Follow the wizard to install Windows on your machine.

And there you have your Windows 10 Technical Preview. Now take a test-drive of Windows 10, also help the Microsoft Team by letting them know if you have experienced any issues using the feedback tool in the Windows Insider Program.


Enjoy the awesome desktop improvement until it expires. The Technical Preview will expire on October 1, 2015. Microsoft will provide notification of PC upgrades to a newer version on September 15, 2015.
