The Android palteform was announced on 5 November 2007 with the founding of the Open Handset Alliance (OHA). The Open Handset Alliance is a consortium of 84 companies. The OHA IS devoted to advancing open standards for mobile devices and developed technologies to significantly lower the cost of developing and distributing mobile devices and services.
