This article provieds an Introduction to Groups In QlikView applications.
Document properties of QlikView document
There are various document properties of a QlikView document. Then go to Settings -> Document properties.
Now I introduce what Groups are in QlikView document properties.
Introduction to Groups
In Groups, it is possible to create a drill down or cyclic field group. A list shows all groups in the document. An icon to the left of each group name indicates whether it is a drill-down group or a cyclic group. A group can be selected by clicking in the list. The selected groups are shown in the Used Fields area.
There are two types of groups.
- Hierarchic Groups (Drill-Down)
- Non-Hierarchic Groups (Cyclic)
Hierarchic Groups (Drill-Down)
The drill down groups are always known as "Hierarchic Groups". The chart is used to drill down the group as a dimension. In the group's list fields that has more than one possible value. When only one field is selected from groups, then it has only one possible value. If there is no field in the list, then it has more than one possible value and the last field will be used anyway.
Example
Fruits: Mango, Banana, Orange
Non-Hierarchic Groups (Cyclic)
Cyclic dimension groups are made up of a number of fields. A Cyclic group is part of the chart expression. If you want to see a cyclic group then go to Chart Properties -> Expression.
Manage Group settings
If you want to manage group settings then select the "New" button in the groups tab.
Now you will see the group settings window. In this window you can create a new group, select a group type and manage the group settings.
