How To Make Bridge Rectifier in Robotics

In this article we will throw some light on another important component which is important in building robots. Although this is a very small component it plays a vital role in the working of robots. We are talking about bridge rectifier. It is an electronic device which converts alternating current (AC) to direct current (DC); the process of converting AC into DC is called rectification.

A simple kind of rectifier circuit is the Half-wave rectifier. It only allows one half of an AC waveform to pass through the load. If we want to rectify AC power to obtain the full use of both half-cycles of the sine wave, we use full-rectifier.

The full-wave center-tapped rectifier polarity at the load will be reversed by the direction of diodes. In this type of diode, the other diodes are reversed diodes and make them parallel with an existing positive-output rectifiers. These diodes establishes the connectivity similar to a bridge. So I am going to discuss the method of making bridge rectifiers. Components which are used to make Breadboard,  Transformer, I have taken the same which has the ratings of 12-0-12 2 Amp and input 220v. The two red wires are primary coils and the three remaining wires are secondary wires. The other small components which are required are LED and Capacitor. I have taken an electrolyte capacitor of ratings 100 microfarad, resistor (brown, black and red) 0 0.25 v. Now We connect the circuit, for my personal convenience, I already drew a circuit on a paper and I kept it in front of me so that I could easily follow it in assembly.

First take four diodes. Diodes of 1000v one amp

Bend the diodes and fit them into the breadboard. In the diode, the silver part is N-junction and the black part is P-junction.  Fit the N-junction on the left-side.

After that take the second diode and connect it to the N-junction to the N-junction of the previously fixed diode. Now connect the N-junction of third diode to the P-junction of second diode.

Connect the N-junction of the fourth diode with the P-junction of first diode.

Now connect the positive side of the capacitor with the junction of first and second diode and we have to leave its negative terminal blank.
