What is a Test Report?

Test Report is a document that records data obtained from an experiment of evaluation in an organized manner. Test Report explains the environmental or operating conditions for testing, and also shows the comparison between test results and test objectives.

Records in Testing

Records in testing are those documents that are used to provide objectives and evidence to perform activities, events occurred, results obtained, or statements made. Records that are received by any organization should be like a proper routine transaction of its business or in pursuit of its legal obligations. Records mainly consist of two or more documents.
Information that is documented regardless of its characteristics, media, physical form, or the manner in which it is recorded or stored. Records mainly consists of accounts, agreement, books, letters, memos etcetera.

Function

The main function of records is to act as evidence of activities performed; on the other hand document functions as evidence of intentions.

Data

Data can be defined as any raw information in the form of alphabets, symbols and numbers that represent a condition or ideas or objects. Data can be limitless and can be present anywhere in the Universe.
For example: Signals and Symbols that are used as inputs are stored and processed by a computer for output as usable information.

What is Evaluation?

Evaluation can be defined as analysis of any completed or ongoing activity that determines or supports management accountability, effectiveness, and efficiency. Once the evaluation is completed it is known as ex-post evaluation, post-hoc evaluation, or summative evaluation. Evaluation of current or on-going activities is also known as in-term evaluation.

Conditions and Role of Conditions for test Reporting:
Conditions are defined as an uncertain future act or event because of which existence or extent of an interest or right, or liability or obligation to know the performance of a duty.

  1.  Conditions are used for expressing.
  2.  Conditions that are automatically present are known as implied conditions.

What is Test Result?

A Test Result can be defined as the outcome, consequence or conclusion of any problem or a test done after a period of time. It can be a result, multiple results or even no result, but the time taken to find the result can varry from less than a second to many years.
