This post explains how we can create a back up or recovery media creation of your OS (Operating System). Since I am using Windows 8.1 as my operating system in my HP laptop, I will describe the steps needed to follow with that configuration. but in most cases, the process remains the same. You may have the recovery media creation software already installed in your system. In that case, the process will be as easy as possible. Here I will explain how to back up your OS in a simple way. I hope you will like it.
Background
Recently I bought a new hp laptop. So before installing any product or software I thought to create a recovery media first. So that I can restore my Operating System at any time I want. I strongly recommend you to do the same when you are in the same situation.
Steps to back up your operating system
Please be noted that the screenshots I am sharing is from windows 8.1 version, So if you use any other OS, the screens may be different. But as I said above, most part of the process remains the same.
Go to Start menu.
Type recovery in the search box.
As I am using an hp laptop, I selected hp recovery manager. When I select that, a screen will open, check Accept and click continue.
Now you need to select where you want to create the recovery. You can either create it in a USB flash drive or in a DVD, If you choose a DVD, you may need 6 of it. And If you select a USB flash drive, make sure that there is no data and it has space of minimum 25 GB or above. As I had a 32 GB pen drive with me, I selected USB flash drive.
Now you will be getting a warning message saying that the USB drive you selected will be formatted. Just click OK.
Then the process of creating flash drive will be started.
Once the disk is ready, it will start copying.
And when the process is done you will get a warning message as follows.
