So in this article we will learn how the Virtual Desktop works in Windows 10.
Virtual Desktops are a very useful feature. In the Linux and Mac operating systems it has been used for a long time but in Windows it is introduced now. The main purpose of Virtual Desktops is to manage the screen. If there are many things available in your single desktop then you can drag and drop them from one screen to another screen using the Virtual Desktop feature. Virtual Desktops provide us more space to group related Windows. Using Virtual Desktop we can easily re-organize our groups. So now here I tell you how you can create a Virtual Desktop in Windows 10.
Step 1
In Windows 10 in your taskbar you will see a button for Task view, just as in the following picture.

When you click on the Task view then a new window is opened. In that window go to the bottom. Now look at the right hand side. You will see a + icon named New Desktop, just as in the following picture.

Step 2
When you click on this New Desktop icon then a new blank desktop screen will we generated. You will then see that Window.

So using New Desktop button you can create multiple desktops as you want.
Step 3
Now if you want to move your screen from one desktop to another desktop then it is very easy to do. Just open that desktop on which your screen is available. Right-click on that screen that you want to move. When you right-click on that screen you have two options one is move and another is close. Now click on the move to, it gives you all the available desktops on which you can drag and drop your screen.

Step 4
Now if you open the desktop on which you moved your screen you will see that your screen is now available at your desired screen. It is now not available at your previous desktop.

Step 5
If you want to close a Virtual Desktop then just click on the Task view. Here all the desktops are available. So just click your mouse at that Virtual Desktop that you want to close. When your cursor goes there then you will see a cross icon. Just click on that. Then your specific Virtual Desktop will be closed.

There are some shortcut keys in Windows to play with the Virtual Desktop as shown below.
- Windows key + Tab : For open the Task view Pane
- Windows key + Ctrl +D : For Creating a new desktop
- Windows key+ Ctrl + F4 : Close the specific desktop
- Windows key + Ctrl + LEFT/RIGHT: Switch to previous or next desktop
As we know, Virtual Desktops were introduced for the first time in Windows so there are some work that it cannot be done like we cannot change the wallpaper of every desktop. Otherwise everything is good, you can simply drag and drop a screen from one desktop to another desktop.
