User Accounts and Synchronization in Windows 10

As we know, Microsoft achieved a new milestone in it's history with the introducion of the latest operating system known as "Windows 10". So this article explains Windows 10, that is very useful from a user's perspective. The topic is "User accounts and synchronization".

So here first we will explain User Accounts. When we install Windows 10 or use Windows 10 for the first time it asks for a new user account. That account may be your personal account or you can use a Microsoft account. So as we know, after inserting a valid account we can access the Windows 10 easily. I prefer to use a new Microsoft account instead of the local account because it provides the easy synchronization of settings and apps among the various devices.

Accounts Settings

Now the following explains the account settings in Windows 10 step-by-step.

Step 1

Go to the start menu and click on the settings icon.

Now in the available settings option, go to the Accounts settings option. So when you click on the Accounts settings you will see a new window as in the following picture.

Step 4

Here you have an option to connect to a Microsoft account. When you click on this link you will see a new window like this.

Step 5

When you click on the next button of this screen then you have will get a new window with two text boxes. The first text box is for your Microsoft account and the second text box is for your Microsoft account's password. If you do not have a Microsoft account then on the same page you have an option to create a new Microsoft account through which you can create a new Microsoft account. I already have a Microsoft account so here I use that account. You can use an old Microsoft account or can create a new Microsoft account depending on your needs.

After inserting your Microsoft account and password, when you click on the Next button, you get a new window. In that window you will see a text box asking for the last four digits of your mobile number for security purposes. So insert the last four digits in this text box and click on the Next button.

Now you have the code on your mobile number. Enter that code into the specific field. After entering the code and clicking on the Next button the process will start, so wait a moment. Now you will see a window like this.

Here you have a button Connect. Click on this button to connect with your account. After clicking this button you have successfully connected with your Microsoft account.

Now if you want to add more than one user then there is an option for that. Go with the other user account. When you click on this option you will see a window like this.

Now here you have two options. One is to manage domain accounts and the second is to manage other accounts. Here I added an account to the second one. So go to the manage other accounts and click on the add an account. Then I have a new popup window like this.

Figure 9: New Account

Now in this window insert the Microsoft account's Email id in the text box. Here you have the option to make this a new account or you can make this as a child account depending on your needs. Here I added a new account as a child account.

Figure 10: Child Account

Now simply click the Next button and wait for your new child account. In a small amount of time (seconds) you will see a child account in your account list as in the given picture.

We have also the option to assign access for the various users depending on our requirements. In the other user account option you will see a link to set up an account for assigned access. Click on this link. You have a window like this.

Here you can choose the accounts in the available accounts and provide them access depending on your needs.

So these are some settings related to accounts in Windows 10. I hope that with the help of these instructions you can easily create a new account in Windows 10 and also make the child account/other accounts easily.

Synchronization settings

Now we explain the synchronization settings in Windows 10 step-by-step.

Synchronization

Synchronization is also known as Sync in the short form. Synchronization is the process of storing more then two versions of a file in various locations. The purpose of Synchronization is that if we change something in a file, like add, delete or update in one location then the same changes will be done automatically at the other location's file.

For the Synchronization setting go into the settings, then in the settings go to the accounts settings and then go to the Sync settings options. Here you will see a window for the Synchronization settings like this.

Figure 13: Sync settings

In the preceding picture you have two options one is Sync all settings and the other one is to Sync individual settings. So let's explain them.

The first part, Sync all settings, is used to turn off/on all the Sync setting on a single click. When we turn it on then all the Sync settings will be turned on automatically. When turn it off then all the Sync settings will be turned off but it will not disable the backup of your settings because it will be on.

Figure 14: Sync all settings

The second part, Sync individual settings, you have various settings individually, so here you can turn off and turn in the Sync of settings depending on your needs. Here the settings are related to the Apps settings, Theme settings, Web browser settings and many more. So here you have the option to choose them and make them turn off and turn on depending on your requirements.

Figure 15: Sync Individual settings

Using Synchronization we migrate all the personalization settings, App settings and other settings without making any manual operation for the settings. So using Synchronization we save our time and make our settings more useful and easily implemented depending on our needs. Here note one thing. The Sync settings works with only a valid Microsoft account and you also need an activated version of Windows.

I hope this article will be helpful for the readers.

Thank you.
